about

This song was deeply inspired by doo wop songs of the 1950s, think The Ink Spots, as seen in the lyrical content, harmonies and my modern take on narrating in a song!

I crafted this song on a story about a failed childhood romance and how those feelings of romance are very complicated and misunderstood. We've heard the story before, reminiscing on our childhood crush only to realize that what we took then as insults and not having a chance, to flirting and her trying to be on the same page. "Wait... she was flirting with me the whole time?!?!?"

Anyways, hope you enjoy the tune! Go to my YouTube to check out the music video we made as well! Lots of hard work and cash were spent on that so I appreciate your support lol.

lyrics

Here
Sitting in the sand
And I'm thinking how I'd fallen for you
Now those days are gone and I'm a mess
Can you blame me for me longing for the past?

Serenades on, but the rents due
If greed's supposed to be a sin why is success used?
Remember toughing up as kids pretending being men
Thinkin' 'bout how we'd rule the world just doin' everythin'
Is it too late to get a redo?
I swear this time I'll learn to stay true
For you

I just can't get past over the fact
A chance at being one it could've happened

There you were just on your lonesome
Spotted you when we were kids
A soul so pretty, with no clue of getting in
So there, I spend just dreaming in my head
The sun is shining
The world is brightening
But not for me
So

Here
Sitting in the sand
And I'm thinking how I'd fallen for you
Now those days are gone and I'm a mess
Can you blame me for me longing for the past?

Here I am, sitting in this old sand
Remembering that fateful day in elementary
Those days girls were icky to us, and many were
But for some reason, except you
So I hoped and prayed that soon one day
That you... that you'd happen to feel the same
But years and years went by and
Well all I knew... all I knew was your name

And see, at times I thought
I thought you hated me, teasing
Teasing and berating me when we finally got to speak
So then I backed away
But despite, even though the feelings didn't seem to fade

But then it just occurred to me
I'm an adult now, and I realized that
In all of those times, that you
That you were actually flirting with me
And now, I'm a mess
*exhale of despair*

Can you blame me for longing for the past?
Yeah

King Leon Los Angeles, California

In the advent of music evoking nostalgia to distract from the divided world we live in today, rapper, singer, multi- instrumentalist and bedroom producer, King Leon, has capitalized off of the "lo-fi" movement to make a unique sound of his own. Drawing inspiration from influential sounds of the 1960s and blending it into anthems for the gentrification-affected youth of Los Angeles. ... more
